Setup guide

Connect QuickBooks Online to BetterWayIQ

BetterWayIQ reads from your QuickBooks Online company in real time. We never write back. Setup takes about 5 minutes.

Before you start

  • You need QuickBooks Online admin access to authorize the connection.
  • You need a BetterWayIQ tenant (trial or paid).
  • If your chart of accounts hasn’t been cleaned up recently, that’s fine — you can remap accounts inside BetterWayIQ after the first sync.

    Sign in to BetterWayIQ QBO

    Go to your tenant dashboard. If you don't have an account yet, start a trial from the pricing page.

    Open Settings → Integrations

    From the sidebar, choose Settings, then Integrations. You'll see a QuickBooks Online card with a Connect button.

    Authorize on QuickBooks

    Clicking Connect sends you to QuickBooks. Sign in if you're not already, then review and approve the read-only scopes BetterWayIQ requests.

    Choose your company

    If you manage multiple companies in QuickBooks, pick the one you want BetterWayIQ to sync. You can only have one connected company per tenant.

    First sync runs automatically

    Once you're returned to BetterWayIQ, the first sync kicks off. Expect 2–5 minutes for a typical chart of accounts and a year of GL entries.

Frequently asked questions

What data does BetterWayIQ read from QuickBooks?+

General ledger entries, chart of accounts, budget, vendors, A/P aging, and payroll runs. Read-only — we request the com.intuit.quickbooks.accounting scope, nothing else.

How often does it sync?+

Nightly, with a manual sync button for when you want fresh numbers before a leadership or board meeting. Sync typically finishes in 2–5 minutes.

Can I revoke access later?+

Yes. Click Disconnect on the Integrations settings page and we'll revoke the token with Intuit. You can also revoke from within QuickBooks under "Connected apps."

What if I run multiple companies in QuickBooks?+

Each BetterWayIQ tenant connects to exactly one QuickBooks company. If you manage multiple entities, create a BetterWayIQ tenant for each — we keep their data completely isolated.
