Terms of service

Effective: May 22, 2026. These terms govern your use of the BetterWayIQ Financial product. A more detailed version will replace this page before general availability.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or connecting QuickBooks Online to BetterWayIQ Financial (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by BetterWayIQ LLC (“BetterWayIQ”, “we”, “us”).

2. Your account

You are responsible for safeguarding the email address and magic-link tokens associated with your account, and for any activity that happens under it. If you discover an account has been accessed without your permission, contact us at hello@betterwayiq.com immediately.

You may create accounts on behalf of the organization you serve (a nonprofit, CPA firm, or other entity). You represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Use of the Service

The Service reads financial data from QuickBooks Online through Intuit’s OAuth-authorized API and presents it to you in the form of dashboards and reports. The Service is read-only with respect to your QuickBooks data; we never write back to your books.

You may use the Service for your internal financial reporting, board reporting, audit preparation, and routine accounting workflows. You may not (a) resell access to the Service, (b) reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape the Service, (c) use the Service to violate any law or third-party right, or (d) attempt to circumvent the Service’s tenant isolation or rate-limit controls.

4. Subscription & payment

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Pricing is shown on the pricing page and is in U.S. dollars. Subscriptions renew monthly or annually as selected at checkout. You may cancel at any time from your tenant settings; cancellation stops future billing but does not retroactively refund the current period.

During the free-trial window, you may use the Service at no charge. We do not require a credit card to start a trial.

5. Data & privacy

How we handle the financial data we read from QuickBooks on your behalf is described in the privacy policy. To summarize: data is stored in a row-level-security-isolated Postgres database, OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and we never share your data with third parties without your written consent.

You own your data. Disconnecting QuickBooks from the Integrations settings page or from Intuit’s “Connected apps” page revokes our OAuth token; emailing us at hello@betterwayiq.com requests deletion of your stored data within 14 days.

6. Confidentiality

We treat your QuickBooks data and any non-public information you share with the Service as confidential. We will not disclose it except to our subprocessors (Supabase, Vercel, Railway, Intuit, and Stripe) acting solely to operate the Service, or when required by law. The same obligation runs in reverse: any non-public roadmap or pricing information we share with you in a sales conversation is confidential to BetterWayIQ.

7. Acceptable use

Don’t use the Service for fraudulent financial reporting, tax evasion, money laundering, sanctions evasion, or any other unlawful financial activity. If we have a good-faith belief the Service is being used for one of these purposes, we may suspend your account immediately and report the matter to the appropriate authority.

8. Disclaimer of warranty

The Service is provided on an “as is” basis. The dashboards and reports the Service produces are derived from your QuickBooks data and are intended to assist your finance team, board, and auditor — they are not a substitute for review by a qualified accountant or CPA. We make no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific report will match a CPA’s independent audit conclusion.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BetterWayIQ’s total liability arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.

10. Termination

You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, with notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure unless the breach is one that cannot reasonably be cured (such as a violation of §7). On termination, we will delete your stored data within 30 days, except as required by law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance via email to the address associated with your account. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Contact
